Father kills pregnant teen, dumps body in well

Pregnancy through an illicit relationship resulted in murder of a 13-year-old girl by her own father last week at Kondhali, 50-km from city. Victim Meena Kuhike was allegedly strangled and dumped in a well by her father after her pregnancy came to fore.

Accused Fakirchand also wanted to kill the man who apparently had a relationship with his daughter and then commit suicide. Fakirchand initially tried to mislead the police by disrobing his daughter before dumping her body in the well. Her clothes were found close to the well. Police later traced Meena’s dupatta at another place. The dupatta was used to strangulate Meena.

One Balram Yaduvanshi, who was treated as a brother by Meena’s mother, turned out to be the one who had exploited the teenage girl. Police have also arrested Yaduvanshi charging him with rape after his affair with the victim. Yaduvanshi already has a daughter.

Kondhali police were baffled at finding Meena’s body and her dress close to the well in the village. They had initially registered a case of accidental death. Later, they charged Fakirchand with the murder of her daughter following a probe. Deflated tyre of the rear wheel of the cycle helped solve the case.

Senior inspector RS Meshram of Kondhali police station said that the tyre’s marks on the slushy road turned out to be strong clues for the sleuths.
