Andhra: Rs 1000 crore aid for cyclone-hit districts

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah has directed the finance department to release Rs. 1000 crore immediately for taking up relief and restoration work in 13 districts severely affected by the recent cyclone Jal.

At a high-level review meeting, he directed departments like Road and Buildings, Panchayat Raj and Municipal Administration to take up repair of roads on a war-footing without waiting for Central assistance.

Rosaiah also asked Chief Secretary S V Prasad and Special Chief Secretary (Finance) S G Sudheer to explore ways to secure funds from NABARD and external agencies like World Bank for carrying out permanent repairs in the cyclone-hit districts.
